Event description

Description

This meeting in Manchester will be an opportunity to consider age friendly integration and practice on a regional scale in the context of Greater Manchester’s recent recognition by the WHO as the UK’s first Age Friendly City Region. Taking a thematic approach, the meeting will explore the opportunities and challenges devolution presents.

The meeting will discuss employment, skills and work among the over 50s; age-friendly neighbourhood working and collaborative models; housing and planning; age-friendly culture; innovation and ageing; and public health. Sessions will involve local policy makers and academics discussing about how public services, businesses, cultural providers and healthcare systems are adopting, and adapting to, age friendly practices, principles and integration. They will also consider responses to the challenges of urban ageing and the role of older people and communities at a city and neighbourhood level.

EUROCITIES members of the working group Urban Ageing will have the opportunity to discuss progress and next steps in the ESPON project and other updates on the second day.
