Developing Leadership that Contributes to Racial Equality
Tue, April 4, 2017, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM PDT
The recent U.S. presidential election has opened new conversations and concerns about race relations and racial justice. Communities cannot leave it to the government to address these issues, but rather must come together to build a strong, inclusive environment at the local level.
As part of an on-going professional leadership series, API Forward invites you to be a part of a forum titled: “Leadership in a New Era - Developing Leadership that Contributes to Racial Equality,” sponsored by Partners in Diversity.
In exploring this topic, we ask what in our current leadership practice must change? How do we cultivate leadership that is inclusive and rooted in cultural sensitivity and empathy? What practical and realistic actions can “regular” people take to become leaders in contributing to racial equality?
Join us for a stimulating conversation sponsored by Partners In Diversity and moderated by its executive director Mari Watanabe.
Our distinguished panel includes:
Mark Mitsui, President, Portland Community College
Chanpone Sinlapasai, P.C., Commissioner, Oregon Commission for Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs
Hanif Fazal, CEO, Center for Equity & Inclusion
The event is free, but space is limited. RSVP is required.
