Description

RSVP for the Leo Baeck Institute's Deutschlandjahr event

A lecture by Professor Mark Roseman.

Teaching and Scholarship on the Holocaust in the United States

This lecture looks at the remarkable explosion of teaching and scholarship on the Holocaust in the United States over the last fifty years. In the 1970s it would have been simply unthinkable that the Holocaust could dwarf the Second World War as a topic of memory, pedagogy and research. Now in teaching students about the Holocaust we often have to remind them that a world war was taking place at the same time. The implications of this shift for understanding Germany, Europe and the World is also a topic of the lecture.

Light refreshments to be served.

This event is part of the Year of German-American Friendship, initiated by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut, and supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
