Detroit Roller Derby Speed Class
Get ready to roll and learn some speed techniques at the Detroit Roller Derby Speed Class - it's going to be fast and furious!
Come join Detroit Roller Derby for Speed class at the Detroit Masonic Temple most Sundays at 10am.
Speed class is designed for adult roller derby skaters and takes place on quad skates, with some drills requiring a full set of roller derby safety equipment. This class provides a fun and challenging mix of speed skating and roller derby skills.
Speed skating instruction and drills help skaters refine cross-over form for power and efficiency. Emphasis is placed on both sprints and endurance. Roller derby instruction and drills emphasize fine-tuning footwork for blocking and jamming (e.g., using edges for cutting, turning, stopping).
Speed class provides a unique environment where the drills are specifically adapted to meet a variety of skill levels. Newer and advanced skaters will both find that the drills are structured to appropriately challenge them. Personalized feedback is provided to help each skater level up.
Drop in Fee $10
Must wear Helmet and have full gear for contact drills.
Must have WFTDA or reciprocal insurance.
Must Sign Waiver if you are not a Detroit Roller Derby league member.
Must show receipt of purchase and waiver to instructors assistant before participation.
