Detroit Public Library Author Series Presents: Duke Fakir
Date and time
In honor of African American Music Appreciation Month we welcome Duke Fakir from one of the most celebrated musical groups, the Four Tops.
About this event
In I'll Be There, Abdul 'Duke' Fakir with Kathleen McGhee-Anderson present a remarkable and heartfelt memoir about the last surviving member of The Four Tops. 'Duke" reveals anecdotes from the group's formation, to their years working with Berry Gordy at the legendary Motown Records. While the Four Tops became one of the most celebrated R&B groups of all time, their extraordinary musical success did not shield Fakir from marital distress, soured investment deals, struggles with sobriety, and the sudden loss of his brothers. This is an in-person event, tickets are limited. The event will also be streamed via Zoom. The link will be provided on the DPL website on the day of the event. Books can be purchased in person or online from Spectacles or www.specdet.com
