Event description

Description

From April 1 - 6th, 12 high school juniors and seniors from Detroit and Metro area schools will participate in the second iteration of a week-long intensive program that uses the history of Detroit's 1967 uprising, combined with design thinking concepts to address current social issues facing the city. The students are assigned to one of four participating community partner organizations that each lead work relevant to Detroit's unique story. They are:

  • Community Development Advocates of Detroit
  • Detroit People's Platform
  • Detroit Public Television
  • Global Detroit

Students work with their partners to use the design process to address social issues facing their community partners around the following topic areas:

  • Race Relations
  • Youth Engagement and Leadership
  • Neighboorhood Advancement
  • Economic Inclusion and Opportunity

Join us on April 6th from 10am to 12pm at the Detroit Historical Museum when the students present their work. All are welcome as we celebrate the students' accomplishments and their future endeavors. A light meal will be served. To learn more, visit: https://detroit1967.org/team-2067-youth-immersion-program/.
