2022 DCYAS Kickball League Rules

FORMAT

  1. Games will consist of 6 innings.
  2. Players are to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game
  3. Games will begin no later than 5 minutes past scheduled game time. If they do, it's a 3-0 forfeit.
  4. Captains will meet to flip a coin for sides and first possession just before the start of the game.
  5. In cases of inclement weather, all teams will be notified by at least 7am on Saturday morning.

TEAMS

  1. Team captains will be assigned to each team and are responsible for coordinating their players.
  2. If a captain is not able to be present for a game, the team must nominate a fill-in.
  3. Each team is required to have a maximum of 9 players on the field at one time, including a pitcher & catcher.
  4. Each team is required to have a minimum of 8 players (2 outfielders) present to play each game.
  5. If a team has fewer than 8 players for any given game, that team may recruit one player from another team to play the position of catcher. It must be a registered league player.
  6. If a team has 6 players or less present, the game will be determined a forfeit.
  7. A minimum of 3 female must be on the field at one time. If there are not 3 female players, the team may recruit a female player from another team to play the position of catcher. If only 1 female player is present, the game will be determined a forfeit.

PLAY

  1. All games will be played for a maximum of 75 minutes
  2. There will be a run rule limit in each game, including tournaments. If any team is ahead by 12 runs after 4 innings or 10 runs after 5 innings, the game will be declared over via a run rule limit.
  3. Any pitches will be delivered from the mound by rolling the ball on the ground. The pitcher must be at or behind the mound when the ball is released.
  4. There will be no strikeouts. If the umpire notices the pitcher is deliberately pitching bouncing pitches, the umpire will ask the team captain to change the pitcher.
  5. During the regular season at the end of regulation, if the score is tied, the game will be declared a draw.
  6. Blocking any base is not allowed. If the umpire notices an attempt (deliberate or accidental) to block a base, the runner will be given the base in which the umpire believes the runner should have gotten if the base wasn’t blocked.
  7. There will be a zero tolerance for any arguments for calls. In the event of an argument with a call, the umpire will direct that player to the bench for the remainder of the game. In the next event, the player will be dismissed from the league. In the event of a game dismissal, if a team falls below the required number of players, the game will result in an immediate forfeit. We have a ZERO tolerance policy for any unsportsmanlike or non-Catholic actions.
  8. There will be no alcoholic beverages allowed in any game or park areas. If you are caught with alcohol, you will be dismissed from the league.
  9. If the ball exits the field the batting team will be responsible for retrieving a foul ball.
  10. All rules will be played via regular baseball and softball rules (It will be a simplistic game, don’t overthink it!)
  11. An out is made by a team by either stepping on a base or throwing a ball at the person and striking them before reaching a base.
  12. Stealing is not permitted
  13. You may use a courtesy runner for justified circumstances. This runner must be the last previous out.
  14. Most of all, have a fun time out there!

TOURNAMENT

  1. Each team will participate in the postseason tournament, which will take place on October 29th, one week after the conclusion of the regular season.
  2. The tournament will be a single-elimination format. Teams will be seeded based on season ranking (Loss and then wins). Any ties in record will be decided by: 1) head to head matchup, least points against, most points scored, coin flip
  3. At the end of regulation, if the score is tied, the game will be decided by a tiebreaker

TIEBREAKER (Tournament Only)

  1. Any ties will play on until our time expires. If the time does expire and teams are still tied, we will play a maximum of two additonal two innings or until a tie is broken. If the game is still tied after the 2nd inning, there will be a best 3 out of 5 coin flip administered by the league manager to determine the winner.
  2. In the event of extra innings, all teams will begin with a baserunner at 2nd base. This runner will be the last out of the previous inning.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Trey Bauman, league manager at (419) 438-7913 or at dcyas@aod.org.
