About this Event
Destination Sistrunk, the hub for discovering Black culture and heritage in Broward County, celebrates the opening of the new Welcome Center with two days of festivities.
Redefining the relationship between arts, culture, heritage, community and tourism, the Welcome Center offers an inviting environment and exciting programs for residents, visitors, artists and organizations to interact in meaningful and memorable ways.

Friday, February 28, 6 – 8 pm
KING: An ODE to the American Dream
Darius J. Manuel becomes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in this contemporary musical narrative performance that brings together Dr. King’s speeches with poetry and a rap, R&B and gospel score. Refreshments will be served.
Location: Destination Sistrunk Welcome Center, Midtown Commerce Center Building, 1033 Northwest 6th Street, Suite 101, Fort Lauderdale.
Parking: Free parking is available in the parking lot behind the Midtown Commerce Center Building and along 6th street.
Presented by Destination Sistrunk Cultural and Community Investment Partnership with support from Broward Cultural Division, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Elks Lodge Project and The Association of American Cultures.
Its information office and co-working space opens February 2020 and The Circuit Arts & Events Space opens December 2020.
