Designing Student-Centered Assignments & Activities
Location: Ground Floor Reading Room, Berry
In this workshop we will examine assignment design and how we can create choice, clarity and motivation in order to help students clearly demonstrate their capabilities. Transparency in assignment design (conveying the relevant knowledge, skills to be practiced, required tasks, expected criteria and examples before students begin working) significantly enhances students' success, with greater gains for historically underserved students [Winkelmes et al, Peer Review, Spring 2016].
