Event description

Description

Have you ever walked through a garden and wished that you could hold onto the beauty that you see just a little longer? Have you marveled at interesting textures and unique shapes and been inspired to touch and create something with these beautiful floral elements? In this workshop, you’ll get to do both of those things as we learn the basics of creating a floral centerpiece. We’ll cover how to select, harvest, condition and arrange with flowering branches and other “woodies”, bulbs, perennials and hardy annuals commonly found in the May cutting garden.

We’ll work with items harvested from Flora Farm and Seven Seeds Farm in Williams, in addition to other locally foraged floral materials. Also, participants are encouraged to bring in materials from their own gardens, and course instructor and local flower farmer Stacey Denton will help everyone to identify how these materials can best be cared for and used in floral design work. We’ll be creating foam-free arrangements from local, organically-grown materials, and you’ll leave with your gorgeous arrangement (in a vase for your keeping) and the ability to re-create future chemical-free centerpieces any time of year to adorn your home, to provide as a memorable gift, or to assist a friend in preparing for their wedding or special event. This workshop makes a great gift for Mom on Mother’s Day! Workshop includes refreshments provided by Jefferson Farm Kitchen.
