About this Event

This workshop has been specifically designed for medium-to-large charities and social enterprises who would like to conduct or commission a wellbeing evaluation. They are likely to be familiar with evaluation concepts and wellbeing measures and may have dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation or Learning and Insights teams within their organisation.

This free London-based workshop for 15-25 people and will cover ‘designing a wellbeing evaluation’ and ‘measuring and interpreting your wellbeing impact’.

Sessions include:

  • Wellbeing objectives, outcomes and measurement
  • Building your wellbeing evaluation framework
  • Managing your wellbeing data and impact
  • Communicating and sharing your learning

This is a unique workshop developed for the VCSE sector.

Outcomes

By the end of the workshop delegates will have a good understanding of:

  • what a wellbeing evaluation frameworks look like
  • how to prepare for wellbeing measurement in an evaluation
  • how to measure wellbeing impacts and communicate results effectively

Who should attend?

This advanced workshop is ideal for people who:

  • are familiar with evaluation frameworks and concepts
  • have dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation or Learning and Insights teams who are keen to improve their understanding of wellbeing evaluation frameworks and methodologies
  • have already conducted or are planning to conduct a wellbeing evaluation

Who runs this?

This workshop is lead by Margherita Musella, Evaluation Lead at the What Works Centre for Wellbeing. She advises charities and funders on how to conduct and strengthen their wellbeing evaluations by advising on appropriate methods, measures and approaches and promotes the use of evaluation data from UK projects and pilots to learn about “what works” to improve Wellbeing.

She also works as an Evaluation Consultant using social return on investment and social impact measurement to evaluate work-based learning programmes and international development advocacy interventions and has helped to set up an evaluation competence centre to strengthen the evaluation support available to third sector organisations in Italy.

The What Works Centre for Wellbeing is part of the What Works network.

We bring together the evidence about the relative impacts on wellbeing of policies and projects, their cost and the quality of the evidence. We are independent of government with a clear and relevant policy and delivery focus.

Schedule

The workshop will run from 9:30am - 3pm and will consist of a mix of presentations and practical interactive sessions. A general outline of the day includes:

  • Designing evaluations with wellbeing objectives and outcomes
  • Mapping wellbeing concepts and outcomes for your programmes and projects
  • Break
  • Preparing for wellbeing measurement: examples of frameworks and standardised measures
  • Wellbeing survey-building exercise
  • Lunch
  • Managing and interpreting wellbeing data
  • Unexpected changes in wellbeing
  • Communicating and sharing your findings
  • Close
