Event description

Description

You are invited to be active community-based co-researchers in a series of three collaborative reflection workshops! Over a three-day period, you will be invited to share your thoughts and experiences and ultimately answer the question:

  • What are youth volunteers suggestions for creating a locally-derived culturally and contextually responsive adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health (AFSRH) resource for adoption in their practice with communities?

A number of activities will be conducted throughout these workshops to explore your suggestions for answering this question. In addition, each workshop will have an educational component regarding adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health (AFSRH) that shares information from a previous research project conducted by the Kwacha Afrika Research Unit. All workshops will be held at the Kwacha Afrika Youth Empowerment Centre in Bombolulu.

Participation in these workshops are voluntary, but should you choose to take part, you must commit to attending ALL THREE workshops. You will be asked to sign an informed consent, that will give ownership of information collected during workshops to the Kwacha Afrika Research Unit and University of Auckland. For participating in the workshops you will get:

  • to actively design a manual that can be used as a future resource for KWacha outreach and educational activities.
  • lunch and an afternoon snack for each day of the workshops.
  • a 1300KSH participation voucher for filling out the pre and post survey
  • a workshop bag that will be filled with a range of materials
  • the chance to be entered into a draw for an all-expenses paid trip from Mombasa supporting the co-facilitators of the workshop to present the training manual/research in Nairobi at the 2020 World Community Development Conference in Nairobi from June 29th - July 3rd

Register early to reserve your space in the workshops as they are limited.

MUST BE 16 TO 25 YEARS OF AGE, AND A VOLUNTEER AT KWACHA AFRIKA TO PARTICIPATE.
