DESIGN THINKING WORKSHOPS

Experience the power and joy of the revolutionary process of innovation known as Design Thinking and help find solutions to one of Palo Alto’s most pressing civic problems…in just 75 minutes.

Our free workshop, Watch+Design For Civic Impact, brought to you by SAP and First Person Impact, is a fast-paced, hands-on introduction to Design Thinking that will get your creative juices flowing.

The workshop starts with a sustainability-related design challenge and covers four interactive design steps (frame, imagine, make, test). Each step is illustrated and explained by short clips from a PBS documentary film, Extreme By Design, about Stanford d.school students who use the same Design Thinking skills to create low-cost products for the world’s poor. As a workshop participant, you will come away with a physical prototype you yourself have made and with a renewed sense that you really can change the world around you.

After the workshops, join KQED for a sneak preview of Extreme By Design in its entirety (57 minutes) in an adjacent screening room at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

An additional Design Thinking Workshop will be offered on a walk-in basis at Idea Hackathon #3 on Sustainability from 4:00 - 5:15 p.m. at 542 High St.
