Design Thinking – Try It Out!

WHAT IT IS ABOUT
Are you thinking about starting your business or a startup but you're unsure if you're solving the right problem? Or maybe you already run business or an organisation, but the growth is slow, and you don't know why?
Then the Design Thinking workshop is for you. The method of Design Thinking is increasingly gaining traction in all types of organisations as it helps to overcome growth challenges, develop creativity and uncover unexpected opportunities.
You don’t have to be a designer to think like one. As Herbert Simon (Nobel Prize Laureate) stated, "Everyone designs who devises courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones." It is about people - first, and services or products - second. The key to unlocking the right solutions is having an empathetic and holistic attitude, a questioning mind-set, and the patience to listen to the users to understand their way of living and needs. Many organisations fail to correctly address the problem before jumping into a solution because of the lacking focus on user. Luckily, Design thinking is a process that highlights problem finding as much as it does problem solving. The method offers a structured and accessible way to develop solutions that are really needed and effective.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this workshop you will learn how to use techniques like human-centred interviewing, visual stories, experience mapping, ideation matrixes and rapid prototyping in an atmosphere of radical collaboration and iterative learning. The adjusted methodology suites a nimble nature of startup companies.
In two evenings – 4 hours each, you will get an overview of the Design Thinking process in a healthy mix of theory and practical exercises:
- Understand – discover user challenges and desires,
- Define – synthesize findings into insights,
- Ideate – turn insights into ideas and evaluate them,
- Prototype and test– explore and validate concepts.
Let’s practice this useful and fun method together and benefit from each other’s capabilities.
The workshops will be led by Neda Nordin. Neda is an organisational innovation expert with a Master degree in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (KTH). Neda has experience in facilitating learning events for over 10,000 participants while managing UN and EC development programmes and numerous projects in different countries.
