Description

Design Thinking Business in Ghana – Boston Edition

You have heard of economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa, the surge in economic activity and probably also seen a lot of interest in countries like Ghana from global economic players. However, the environments of these markets are not familiar field. There are so many nuances that require unique insights that need to be collected, unpacked, processed and incorporated in decision making.

There are many ways of collecting and processing insights. One way that is becoming increasingly relevant is the Design Thinking approach; a creative human-centered, problem-solving, approach.

Design Thinking Ghana Hub together with the MIT African Business Club invites you to come and explore how to go about collecting and processing human-centered insights from places like Ghana. Come and learn, and also share your experiences, about how to develop empathy for new markets and unearth insights for developing strategy for market success and competitive advantage.

The workshop is led by Dr. Gordon Adomdza. Dr. Adomdza taught innovation and entrepreneurship courses at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, at Northeastern University, Boston, for 7 years. He currently teaches design thinking and entrepreneurship at Ashesi University College in Ghana, a small liberal arts college. His teaching and research focus is on the development of new idea concepts and business models across different industries. He is also the Founding Lead of the Ashesi Design Lab, and in his spare time, he organizes the Design Thinking Ghana Meetup Group (with almost 2,000 members) which is in transition to become a Hub. He developed his design-thinking curriculum in collaboration with research colleagues at Continuum Innovation, Newton, MA, inventors of the award-winning Swiffer. He has led workshops on design thinking in a few different countries, with a relevant reference being one at the 2017 MIT African Business Conference (see video by Movemeback).
