HMCT presents our second Design Educators Typography Intensive [DETI], a global virtual learning environment, on January 22 and 23, 2021. Focusing on Branding and Typography, attendees will be exposed to new approaches and pedagogies to take back to their own classrooms, and participate in active discussion groups via virtual chat rooms by asking questions and sharing their own insights.

At the heart of DETI is this sharing of knowledge, as HMCT continues the legacy of its namesake, ArtCenter Professor Leah Hoffmitz Milken. Leah left her mark over three decades of teaching. Her skilled tutelage in typography and visual problem solving inspired future generations of “thinking designers.” Our motto for the event: Effective teaching should be shared, not a secret, aligns with the mission of the HMCT of elevating and advancing the instruction and understanding of both letterform design and typographic practice while providing valuable support and service to the educational and professional communities.

Renowned designers and educators will generously share their expertise over the course of four webinar instruction modules open to all university-level instructors.
