Event description

Description

Tuesday, March 6 | Design Office
Thursday, March 8 | Reynolds Room
$20 each session; registration required

In anticipation of the April election, this workshop aims to apply design principles and fundamentals to increase civic participation by allowing the voting process to feel accessible, efficient and trustworthy.

In the first session, through visual examples, workshop attendees will be introduced to fundamental principles of graphic design, including typography, composition, color theory and production. In the second session, attendees will apply learned principles to create original, nonpartisan posters and designs, which advocate for participation in local elections. This program is presented in partnership with AIGA Alaska as part of their Design for Democracy initiative. Participants need to bring their own laptops for production of posters. Laptops will need to be pre-loaded with Adobe Creative Suite (old versions available online for free download). First session will require homework in the form of sketching and concepting to be completed before session two.
