From the Archives...Art, Design, and the Look of Optimism
Join Deserted Films for a curated and contextualized evening of short, nontheatrical films (educational films, industrials, home movies, commercials) from the Deserted Films archives and elsewhere celebrating the power of the creative spirit.
What did “the future” look like to American automotive manufacturers? How did midcentury advertisements talk about new manufacturing materials? What problems would art and/or good design solve? How did home design and/or decor reflect or promote our collective vision of the future?
Rare and unique vintage short films will provide a glimpse into the answers behind these questions and raise new ones.
Sit back, relax, and join us as we venture into a past that was (mostly) hopeful about the future.
