_______________________________
The Scarborough Centre Youth Forum is a platform for youth to engage in dialogue with Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson and local community leaders. It aims to encourage youth in our community to be involved in the decision making process that affects their neighbourhood, quality of life, personal growth and success. It also gives youth the opportunity to identify concerns, voice their opinions and share ideas of ways to engage the community and to make Scarborough a better place for youth.
The forum will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at McGregor Park Community Centre (2231 Lawrence Avenue East) from 10:00 am- 3:00 pm.
All youth ages 13 to 21 are welcome to attend.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Join the Youth Forum to discuss key areas that affect youth in the community including: education, employment, safety, climate change, leadership and community engagement, faith, mental health, skills training, racism and discrimination.
The Forum will include round table discussions, presentations, live music by R.I.S.E. Edutainment, a dance performance by Simply Swagg Dance studio and a mindfulness meditation led by Julien Christian Lutz.
Julien Christian Lutz - professionally known as Director X- is an award-winning director of music videos for Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West, and many more. He is also a filmmaker, an artist, and now a mindfulness advocate, drawing on his own experience with gun violence to head up a movement called Operation Prefrontal Cortex.
Come early to the Forum and the Microsoft team will be available starting at 9:30 AM to give you a free professional photo and to get you started on creating a brand new LinkedIn online profile.
