Description

The Deputy Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest, Ravit Baer, will be speaking about the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. She will address the significance of this document and how its importance has changed over the past century, amongst other topics regarding Israel's establishment and identity. Her talk will be followed by a Q&A session, with questions directly from the audience.

Please note that there will be security on site, and you may be subject to search before entering the venue. There will be no backpacks, posters, banners, noise-making devices, or other distracting objects allowed inside the room. You MUST present your UC Berkeley student ID with the ticket confirmation from Eventbrite. If you are not a UC Berkeley student and would like to attend, you must sign up using this link AND email tikvahsfi@gmail.com to ensure that you will be allowed inside the venue (must present ID upon entrance).

About Ravit Baer:

Ravit Baer assumed the role of Deputy Consul General in August, 2015 after serving for five years at the Department for Multilateral European Organization at the Europe Division. In that position, she was responsible for coordinating Israel’s cooperation with the European Union, NATO, OSCE, UFM, and was also responsible for coordinating the implementation of the European Neighborhood Policy in Israel, as well serving as the Israeli National Contact Point for several European programs.

Ravit is a career diplomat at the Israeli Foreign Service since 2004. She served as the Deputy Head of Mission to the Israeli Embassy in the Ivory Coast (2005-2007) and to Cyprus (2007-2010). Prior to joining the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she served as a legal advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office (2003-2004).

Ravit Baer holds an L.L.B (2001) and an L.L.M specializing in constitutional and administrative law (2003), both from the Hebrew University. She is a certified lawyer and member of the Israeli Bar Association.
