Denver Tech Interview Meetup
Thu, April 27, 2017, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM MDT
1) Choose Data Structures, Algorithms, or Coding. Easy, or Not So Easy.
2) Then you go through a mock interview.
3) Discover what you didn't know, that you didn't know.
Knowing algorithms puts your skills on the higher end of the spectrum. As more and more people seek a career in tech, smart companies are basing their decisions on a developer's appreciation for data structures and algorithms. Fair? Who knows? Think of algorithms as a set of tools. You may be able to do a job without 'em, but having 'em, makes work less like... work.
Software companies want their more senior staff to appreciate algorithmic thinking, as well, so as to be able to collaborate with in-the-trenches engineers.
DTIM lets people help people learn algorithms. We can interview, with no consequences. Over and over, until we are sharper. Until we crack the coding interview.
"We choose to do this, not because it is easy, but because it is hard." -- President John F. Kennedy (more or less)
Come sit through a session! Leave survival tips.
There are lots of interesting problems to solve in hosting a meetup like this. First, how to make it effective for everyone, each time? How do we improve next time?Second, people in general, have differing skill levels. How does a junior meaningfully interview a senior? What resources can we leverage, as oppose to reinventing the wheel? DTIM is organizing a group behind the meetup to think about these questions. A virtual meta-meetup-group if you will. Join!
