Denver Municipal Band

The Denver Municipal Band has a rich tradition in the United States and in Denver. We are the oldest,
actively performing professional band in the United States and the oldest, historic professional ensemble
in Denver. For more than a century, the Denver Municipal Band has provided exhilarating musical
performances throughout the Denver metro area, free to the public.

Denver Municipal Band musicians are among the area's finest professional players and educators,
performing with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Opera and Ballet Orchestras, the Buell
Theatre Orchestra, and Denver Brass. Many members also teach at local universities including the
University of Denver, University of Colorado, Metropolitan State University, Colorado State University,
and University of Northern Colorado, as well as our region's top public schools.

We take pride in the Municipal Band’s active role promoting a strong sense of community throughout
Denver and the surrounding region, building partnerships with governmental agencies, educational
institutions, and neighborhood groups.

Carol Jantsch

Carol Jantsch has been Principal Tuba of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 2006. She won this position during her senior year at the University of Michigan, becoming the first female tuba player in a major symphony orchestra. When not performing with the PO, Carol is active as a soloist, chamber musician, arranger, and teacher. She is a faculty member at the Yale University School of Music, and is a Yamaha Performing Artist. She is the founding member of Tubular (the World’s Greatest Tuba Cover Band), and President and Founder of Tubas For Good, Inc., a nonprofit providing access to instruments and community events in Philadelphia..
