Event description

Description

Denver Design Week (“DDW”), now in its third consecutive year, is this region’s most inclusive and important design conference with 36 thought-provoking events over the course of eight days in Denver, October 12-19. From tours of new buildings to keynote panel discussions, the conference celebrates our community’s best architecture, design, interior design, branding and UX/UI industries. Speakers include local design notables, such as architect Jeffrey Sheppard, and national speakers from Zaha Hadid and Facebook.

At the intersection where Design, Architecture and Technology merge, DDW seeks to build an understanding of the vital role design plays in our lives and to increase public awareness and appreciating for all aspects of design. Tickets are on sale now at www.denverdesignweek.com and include daytime and evening events during the week of October 12-19.

- Wednesday, October 17, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Designer Hylnur Atlason travels from his Manhattan-based studio to discuss his product design work that is both clean and complex, such as a women’s razor and Xbox packaging.

- Thursday, October 18, 10:15 – 11:15 a.m., Jeff Sheppard discusses that with the advent of digital technology and 3d software programs, sketching and drawing has become a lost art, yet is making a comeback as universities re-integrate freehand drawing into their curriculums and why that’s important.

- Thursday, October 18, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Joyce Hsu, a classically trained architect who heads up Facebook’s 3D projects, speaks on the origins and future plans of Facebook’s cavernous “hardware lab,” sometimes called Area 404.
