Denim & Gray: National Denim Day at Georgetown
Event Information
About this event
Georgetown's SAPE along with the Women's Center, Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action, & GUPD's SART team will be standing in solidarity with survivors on Denim Day. Denim Day began after an Italian Supreme Court case in 1997 overturned a sexual assault conviction. It ruled that because of the woman's tight jeans, she must have helped the perpetrator take them off, implying consent. The next day, the women in Parliament broke the dress code and wore jeans to support the survivor. As the longest-running sexual violence prevention campaign, Denim Day encourages all community members to wear jeans on April 27th.
Come out to Copley Lawn for food (e.g., SOFT PRETZELS!!), giveaways, and chances to take POLAROID PICTURES in your denim outfits!
