Denim Day Self-Defense Workshop
Wed, April 26, 2017, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM CDT
April is Sexual Violence Awareness month. On April 26th we recognize International Denim Day. The campaign originally triggered by an overturned rape conviction by the Italian Supreme Court, implying the victim must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. Founded by Peace Over Violence, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Together Chicago bloggers Taylor Justin of The Haute Seeker and Amanda Harth of Runway Addicts will host a self-defense workshop with IMPACT Chicago. IMPACT Chicago provides women and girls the tools they need to prevent, minimize, and stop acts of violence against women. We invite you to wear denim in recognition of this day and join us for this very important workshop.
