Description

Join the UCLA Department of Urban Planning at the Luskin School of Public Affairs and the Latino Policy & Politics Initiative (LPPI) for an academic symposium in honor of Dr. Leobardo Estrada's contributions to the academy and community. For 40 years, Dr. Estrada (1945-2018) devoted his time and talent to research and teaching new generations of urban planners and civic leaders. Please join us on May 31st for an interactive symposium on Demography, Redistricting, & Power, topical areas that seek to translate Dr. Estrada's research to today's critical challenges regarding the 2020 Census, the ballot box, and political power.

Symposium will start at 12:30 pm (RSVP is required)
Memorial Reception will start promptly at 5pm (no RSVP is required)

Keynote Luncheon: The New Majority & the 2020 Census: Shifting the Balance of Power

  • Keynote Speaker: Arturo Vargas, the Chief Executive Officer of NALEO Educational Fund, a national nonprofit organization that strengthens American democracy by promoting the full participation of Latinos in civic life.
