About this Event

As Democrats choose a candidate to run against President Trump in 2020, one key question has shaped the primary: should the Democratic Party embrace policies like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, or should it stay near the ideological center? Can a more progressive agenda win the Electoral College, or is courting swing voters in the middle really the only way to get to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.?

Join the IOP for a friendly debate on the future of the Democratic Party, featuring IOP Pritzker Fellow Abdul El-Sayed and former Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). This conversation will be moderated by Amanda Terkel, Washington Bureau Chief for HuffPost.
