Event description

Description

A border and barbeque aren't the only things Virginia and North Carolina have in common. The two states also share some of the most gerrymandered districts in the country, cozy relationships between regulators and industry, and politicians that care more about serving their donors than their constituents.

In Democracy for Sale, Zach Galifianakis focuses on how big money political interests have led to a lack of environmental protection in North Carolina along with tax cuts for the upper class and corporations, education cuts, gerrymandering, and laws designed to decrease voter turnout.

Join us on September 26 at the NOVA Woodbridge Campus, for a free screening of Democracy for Sale to learn more about North Carolina politics and it’s innumerable parallels to Virginia and what we can do to fight back.

Tuesday, Sept. 26; two sessions: 4:00 & 7:00 p.m., each followed by a panel discussion. WS Building - Lakeside Theater.

Presented by: HOLA (Hispanic Organization for Leadership & Action) and LWV (League Of Women Voters® Of The Prince William Area), AKA (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc), NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College), VCET (Virginia Civic Engagement Table) and Working Films.
