Delay the Disease: Continuing Education for Healthcare Professionals

Join Jackie Russell, RN BSN CNOR and David Zid, BA ACE APG – Co-Founders of Delay the Disease

Evidenced-Based Concepts for Planning and Implementing a Parkinson’s-Specific Community Exercise Class using the OhioHealth Delay the Disease™ Parkinson’s Fitness Program

OhioHealth Delay the Disease™ offers a 1.5 day educational seminar that is interactive and fun. This course will provide evidenced-based updates on the effects of exercise on the symptomatic management of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Each participant will be able to integrate this knowledge along with teaching techniques to create and lead a comprehensive community-based PD-specific exercise program based on the Delay the Disease fitness agenda. This is a training and a certification; you will become Delay the Disease certifed. To attend, you must be a PA, PTA, OT, OTA, Exercise physiology or Athletic Trainers, Health or Fitness professionals with respective ceritifications (ACSM, ACE, ISSA, NASM or similar). If you have questions about these qualifications, please call Melissa Greer at 503-594-2792.

We will provide information to petition your individual licensing boards to obtain CE contact hours. 10 contact hours for continuing education have been approved from the following boards in the state of Ohio:

· Physical Therapy

· Occupational Therapy

· Athletic Training

for the course "Evidence-based Concepts for Planning and Implementing a Community-based Parkinson's Specific Exercise Class based on the Delay the Disease Parkinson's Fitness Program" *Note: a form will be provided to you after the training that you must fill out and submit to petition to your board.

Things to bring:

· Medicine ball (preferred weight, 2-4 lbs.)

· Yoga mat

· Water bottle

Please let us know if you are not able to bring your own equipment, PRO can provide a limited amount for the training.

Day 2

7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Check in – Continental Breakfast

8:00 – 10:30 a.m. David Zid, BA, ACE, APG — Training the Instructor

10:30 – 10:45 a.m. Break

10:45 – 11:30 a.m. Delay the Disease Demonstration Exercise Class

11:30 – 12:30 a.m. Lunch (included) & CE participants interact with PWP from Demo Class
