Event description

Description

The Adventure Challenge Relay is a fun running event with obstacles completed in pairs. The event is designed to challenge participants both physically and mentally. Participants can register as independent pairs or can affiliate with a team (up to 5 pairs, or 10 to a team!). Because the obstacles require two people to complete, all participants must sign up with a teammate. Single participants will not be permitted.

For more information, please see our website or the Delaware Charity Challenge website!

WHAT IS THE ACR?
The ACR consists of a short 5k course with a number of physical and mental obstacles. The ACR challenges a pair’s physical and mental abilities in a string of challenges as they run through the park. This year we’re revamping the course to make it more fun and challenging for the participants. Pairs can compete independently (just the two of you) in three different divisions: all-female, all-male, or co-ed.

TEAM UP!
Don’t want to just compete as a pair? Well, great because you can form teams up to 10 athletes (5 pairs) to compete in one of the following categories: Crossfit, University, Charity, and Open. The winning team from each of the competitive races will win great prizes including support for your designated charity. For example, in 2015, winners of the Adventure Relay won an additional $100 for their designated beneficiaries.

WHAT IS THE DELAWARE CHARITY CHALLENGE?

The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Leading up to the athletic competition, teams compete in the Race to Raise to see who can raise the most money for their designated charity. After the Race to Raise comes the Race to First, where teams race to win money for these causes. Nonprofits are encouraged to build and promote their own teams in the Delaware Charity Challenge. Prize money and other prizes are awarded to charities chosen by the teams that raise the most money and also for the charities of the teams that win the athletic competitions. The result is that participating teams (and nonprofits) can concentrate their fundraising efforts in a fun and compelling way. Delaware Charity Challenge is an effort by Innovincent and others to make traditional, individually-focused fundraising events, like a 5K, more team-based, efficient, cost-effective, and fun for everyone involved.

The Spring Delaware Charity Challenge consists of two athletic competitions: a 5K and the Adventure Challenge Relay. Both events take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington, Delaware.

UD JOINS AS A PARTNER!

Dr. Newland’s Sport Event and Facility Management class at the University of Delaware has been tasked with the planning and execution of the 2016 Delaware Charity Challenge Adventure Challenge Relay. Her students will oversee the event itself and make sure that it runs smoothly. Her class enables sport business management students to expand their knowledge of the management of events and facilities. Students also learn skills such as proper planning and staging of events, designing the experience, sponsor acquisition, marketing and promotions, budgeting, and risk management.
