Lawrence Maxwell

Prince Edward Island singer-songwriter Lawrence Maxwell has officially entered the conversation in country music with his award-winning debut album, “Not Your Outlaw.”With classic country influences of Merle Haggard and George Jones, Maxwell cherishes and revives the “old soul” of country music. His songs cover a lyrical landscape of heartfelt storytelling and whimsical philosophy. In short, Lawrence Maxwell will tell it to you like it’s folk and sing it to you like it’s country.Emerging from the North Shore beaches of P.E.I., country singer-songwriter Lawrence Maxwell grew up listening to the waves and classic country music. Though it wasn’t until his service with the Royal Canadian Navy that he truly began exploring his passion for singing. During long sailsand port visits, he would sing classic country hits on the ship or at the local bar to entertain his shipmates.Upon his return to P.E.I., Maxwell began writing original music and recorded his debut album, “Not Your Outlaw,” which earned him a 2019 Music P.E.I. award for Country Recording of the Year. Chris Pride of 95.1FM CFCY dubbed the album, “alt- country, alt-rock, and all-chill.” With airplay on CBC and Sirius XM, country music fans have been rejoicing at a fresh yet pure voice for their genre.

Alicia Toner
