Description

Welcome to the 9th annual DIHLC at McMaster.

The DeGroote Interprofessional Health Leadership Conference is a unique union between health and business. We are an interprofessional conference aiming to connect leaders in medicine, business, nursing, health sciences, and allied health. DIHLC is an entirely student-run conference meant to engage participants, build networks, and develop life-long leadership.

This year's conference theme is Balancing Data Driven Decisions with Patient Centred Care. For healthcare in Ontario many funding decisions are made based on statistics and data. As an example, to get accreditation hospitals need to demonstrate certain standards are being maintained and improved annually. It is vital that the data used to make these decisions are accurate, reliable, and valid. Oftentimes decisions based on data have very large effects on patients and frontline staff. DIHLC 2017 seeks to explore how we balance quality assurance and “big data,” while ensuring that the care provided remains patient-centred and empathetic.

Come enjoy breakfast, a fabulous speaker and panelist line-up, and a networking lunch with an opportunity to earn credits from the Canadian College of Health Leaders or PIPER IPE Exposure credits.
