Inversions and arm balances can be exciting, scary, fun, and playful all at the same time! In this workshop Rachel will help to demystify these challenging poses and break them into smaller parts in order to make them more accessible for you in your yoga practice We will work on wrist/hand stretches and strengtheners, wrist/should/spinal alignment, core strengthening exercises, ways to safely fall out of inversions, and some playful partner exercises. The topic of conquering the fear of going upsidedown will also come up! Inversions and arm balances are a wonderful way to take your yoga practice to a new level, and they force you (in a good way) to become fully present and in the moment. Even if arm balances aren’t quite a part of your practice yet, these tools will help you build up to floating on your hands. It does take a bit of diligence and consistent practice (and a sense of humor!), but almost anyone can practice arm balances. Rachel LOVES to practice and teach inversions, and she hopes that this workshop will give you some new tools to help you on your upside-down journey. This class is not recommended for those with shoulder or wrist injuries, and it is recommended that those attending have at least six months experience practicing yoga.

About Rachel:
Known for her challenging yet creatively playful yoga classes, Rachel Barringer strives to help her students feel empowered through alignment-based movement. In her own practice, Rachel focuses on building core strength and balanced flexibility, leading to a more rich and fulfilling experience of life off the mat. She takes particular interest in breaking down seemingly impossible poses into smaller components, making them accessible to her students.
She has been teaching in the Boston area since 2008, and she continues to find her practice and teaching to be an outlet for her ever-expanding curiosity of movement and kinesthetic awareness. Some of her most influential yoga teachers are Ana Forrest, Georgia Reath, Todd Skoglund, and David Vendetti.
A classically-trained cellist, Rachel was drawn to yoga as a way to relieve performance anxiety while she was a music major in college. Immediately she began experiencing the multitude of other benefits and realized that yoga was forever going to be a part of her life.
Rachel also performs as cello soloist Lady Ray, and has accompanied various notable yoga instructors including Shiva Rea, Sianna Sherman, and Sanskrit scholar Christopher Tompkins. To learn more about Rachel please visit www.RachelBarringerYoga.com.
