  • MotionLab Berlin is 4500 sq.m self-sustained Innovation Hub with access to Industrial Machines, Garage Spaces, Vocational Trainings & International Partnerships.

  • Currently 35 Startups, 200+ Members and 6 Industry Partners are hosted at MotionLab Berlin.


  • The goal of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises is to secure Berlin’s recent leading position and make it a global hub.

  • Ten so-called centres of future, local innovation parks for smart industries, are currently being developed.

  • Creating a network for electric vehicles, launching 5G sites for commercial enterprises and expanding 200 Mbit-internet over the entire city are other focal areas to make Berlin a global pacemaker for innovation in the digital age.


  • SOSV is a program-based early stage VC fund with over US$650 million under management. SOSV invests in 150 startups per year and is ranked annually as one of the most active VCs in the world.

  • SOSV pioneered a 'hands-on' investment model. It combines a seed fund with extensive pre-seed resources, including its electronics/manufacturing and biotech labs and staff experts. It focuses on hardware (HAX), life sciences (IndieBio, RebelBio), food (Food-X), blockchain (dLab), and Asia cross-border internet (Chinaccelerator) and mobile (MOX).

  • Its hardware portfolio includes FormLabs (3d printing), GetAround (car sharing), as well as fast-growing robotics and medtech startups such as Avidbots (commercial cleaning robots) and Makeblock (STEM robots). SOSV also was the lead seed investor in JUMP Bikes, recently acquired by Uber.

  • In life sciences, SOSV is considered a pioneer in ‘clean food’ and cellular agriculture with over 100 investments in Memphis Meats (clean meat), NotCo (plant-based mayonnaise) Geltor (animal-free collagen), Clara Foods (egg proteins), Perfect Day (milk products), and Abbot’s Butcher (plant-based meat).


  • Benjamin joined HAX in Shenzhen to invest in hardware startups in 2013, after founding a strategy consultancy in Asia (China, Japan and Korea) and angel investing in a dozen startups. HAX, the 'hardware' branch of SOSV, has now invested in over 250 startups including robotics, consumer & industrial IoT, enterprise and medtech.

  • Benjamin spoke about tech trends and entrepreneurship at over 200 events across 30 countries, including multiple TechCrunch Disrupt, Hello Tomorrow, NOAH events, as well as on entrepreneurship tracks at Stanford, Berkeley, INSEAD and more. He has also written for Forbes, TechCrunch, VentureBeat, IEEE Spectrum, and been quoted numerous times in media such as WSJ, Wired and Nature.

  • Born in France, Benjamin graduated with a MSc in Mechanical Engineering and in Aeroacoustics. He speaks French, English, Japanese and some Mandarin and Korean. During his free time, he practices BJJ and drawing.


  • Aravinth is Community Builder, New Media Artist and Embedded Systems Engineer with 15+ years of global experience.

  • He co-founded 7 Startups & Social Organisations in the sector of Education, Agriculture, Sustainability & Innovation, in Germany & Asia, and worked in 5 Hardware Startups in the spectrum of Energy, Health Care, Smart Home, Urban Mobility, in Berlin. He also researched at 4 academic Research Institutions in the field of IoT, Autonomous Vehicles, Humanoid Robotics & Machine Learning, in Berlin.

  • He curates Communities in the domain of Startups, Sustainability, Education and Art, in Europe, Africa & Asia. He is currently contributing also to an initiative of the Berlin Senate, as an ambassador for Startups affairs with Asia-Pacific countries.
