Organized by SOSV and Hello Tomorrow, hosted by BPI France and part of the Deep Tech Week.



An evening with fellow deep tech investors to boost knowledge, deal flow and co-investments.

International investors with experience across multiple stages will share insights on Deep Tech, covering robotics, industry 4.0, synthetic biology, digital health / diagnostics / therapeutics, food & ag, energy and more, followed by extended networking time.

From unsustainable global manufacturing, to an over-stressed global food supply, to seemingly incurable diseases, we see some of society’s biggest challenges as some of the world’s most compelling business opportunities.
  • About Kelly: From her career as a fixed income trader to building out a new product line for a global investment bank, Kelly’s interest has always been how to use data and optimization to push boundaries, faster. At DCVC, she enjoys working on problems arising from fundamental population and labor driven shifts. She is especially excited about teams building revolutionary tech in AI, robotics, manufacturing, sustainability, and future of work. Kelly received a joint BS/MS in Financial Engineering and Operations Research from Columbia University and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from Wharton.

Seth Bannon (@sethbannon), Founding Partner, Fifty Years

  • About Fifty Years: Fifty Years is an entrepreneur-run early stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, backing companies that could be both massively profitable and make a serious dent in achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals. It raised a second $50 million fund in July 2019.
  • About Seth: Seth Bannon is a Founding Partner at Fifty Years, where he's seeded many deep tech startups shaping the world for the better — companies like Memphis Meats (culturing meat to eat), Solugen (engineering enzymes to produce industrial chemicals sustainably), and Astranis (small satellites to cover the earth in Internet). Seth is also the co-founder of, a community of entrepreneurs combining purpose with profit, and was previously the founder & CEO of startup Amicus. A graduate of Y Combinator, Seth was named twice to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Social Entrepreneurship. Seth can occasionally be found in parks around the world attempting to hustle chess hustlers.

Founded in London in 2011, EF now operates in 6 cities (London, Paris, Berlin, Bangalore, Singapore and Toronto) and raised a $115 million fund in 2019 to fund another 300 companies.
  • About Allister: Allister runs EF's European programmes in London, Berlin and Paris which generate over 30 VC backed startups a year, generating over $150m of enterprise value at seed. As well as running EF programmes in Europe and formerly in Asia, his experience spans biosciences, AI, robotics, sustainability, advanced manufacturing and aerospace.

Kerry Baldwin, Managing Partner, IQ Capital

  • About IQ Capital: IQ Capital is a venture capital firm, based in Cambridge and London UK-based with a third $300 million fund raised in 2019. It invests in ‘deep-tech’ across sectors including machine learning, AI, robotics, and advanced engineer-ing and materials, and data-focused propositions based on disruptive algorithms. Initial investments range from £300k to £5m, with capacity for follow-on investment up to £30m.
  • About Kerry: A pioneer of UK deep tech investment with 23 years experience in early stage Venture Capital both in the UK and Europe. Specialty: Competitive Intelligence, Product GTM, ICPs, Strategic Marketing, Team and Board Dynamics during growth phases. Honorary Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Cambridge University, Judge Business School. Member of the BVCA Venture Capital Committee.

Ekaterina Gianelli, Partner, Inventure

  • About Inventure: Nordic venture capital firm based in Helsinki and Stockholm, backing early-stage founders focused on connectivity, future mobility, personalised healthcare and more. It raised over €110 million in 2017.
  • About Ekatarina: Based out of Helsinki, her areas of interest include digital health, future of food and consumer space in general. Previously, Ekaterina has been part of the team scaling Fjord, the design & innovation consultancy (acquired by Accenture Interactive in 2013). As an active community builder, she has been contributing to multiple initiatives strengthening the Nordic tech ecosystem.

Gaetan Bonhomme, Member, Breakthrough Energy Ventures - Europe

  • About BEV: Global fund of $1 billion created in 2016 by the Breakthrough Energy Coalition and backed by top business leaders such as Bill Gates. BEV invests in solutions to climate change via agriculture, buildings, electricity, manufacturing, and transportation. A new €100 million European fund backed by European Commission focuses on decarbonization solutions for every part of the economy.
  • About Gaetan: Prior to joining BTEV, he was the co-founder and CTO of Kurion, a US environmental management startup founded in 2008, focused on nuclear waste treatment solutions. Its technology was instrumental in the aftermath of the 2011 Fukushima crisis. Kurion was acquired by Veolia for $350 million in 2016. Gaëtan holds a PhD in Materials Science on industrial applications of quasicrystals and an MBA from MIT Sloan.

Alexandre Terrien, Co-Founder, Future Positive Capital

  • About Future Positive Capital: invests in companies that apply advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, or robotics to solve massive global needs reversing climate change. It raised its inaugural $57 million fund in 2019.
  • About Alexandre: Alexandre started his career by partnering with a Harvard biomedical engineering professor to build a moonshot studio that developed products at frontiers of science and design to launch transformative companies. Prior to founding Future Positive Capital, Alexandre co-founded Kukua, a pan-African education media franchise, and built General Assembly’s enterprise business in Europe in view of the company's sale to Adecco for $412m.


Benjamin Joffe (@benjaminjoffe), Partner, SOSV

  • About SOSV: The first accelerator fund focused on deep tech with over $700 million AUM and close to 1,000 startups in portfolio. Its new $277 million fund raised in 2019 will invest in 600 startups including robotics, industry 4.0, digital health, food tech and synthetic biology. We invest an intial $100k-$250k in 150 companies per year through our world class vertical accelerator programs in hardware (HAX), life sciences (IndieBio) and Food (Food-X) and up to $5 million across later rounds.   • About Ben: Joined SOSV in China after founding an Asia cross-border strategy consultancy, and experiences in aerospace, telecom and gaming, following MSc in Mechanical Engineering and Aeroacoustics. Benjamin spoke at over 300 conferences in 35 countries about deep tech and startup ecosystems.
