Judges:
- Dr. Hermann Schindler - CEO, Scalator Ventures
Hermann Schindler held different senior leadership positions in big global tech companies, telcos, strategy consulting, automotive companies and private equity / family offices.
He was until autumn 2019 Executive Vice President for Corporate Development & Venturing at a joint venture of Bosch, Continental, ZF and Airbus. There he built up a new business model how to grow deep-tech start-ups for industries like digital car, autonomous driving, smart production & supply chain, health-tech & wearables. He is in different investor juries like Silicon Valley Funding Summit, Eurotech Week @ CES, Industry 4.0 Summit, Enrich (US Trade Commission & European Commission), Mobile World Congress / 4yfn.
He builds now a new fund for startups with focus on United States, Canada and Europe. Industries are:
- Automotive & Mobility (especially AI-based in-cabin solutions and autonomous driving)
- Smart Production / Industry 4.0 & Production Chains (Connected Supply Chains)
- Fittech & Health (focus areas in health are wearables and AI based solutions against CoVid / pandemics and diseases of the aging population like cancer, stroke, Parkinson, Alzheimer and Orthopedics)
- Smart buildings & cities
He holds a Ph.D. from University of St. Gall and Indiana University (Bloomington). His thesis was in the area of brain (wave) research and how (new) interfaces change perception and processing in the brain. Therefore areas like new interfaces, brain, sensors, augmented reality etc. are of special interest besides the mentioned areas.
- Maria Malavenda - Managing Director, KOL Ventures
Maria Malavenda is Managing Partner of KOL Ventures and Founder, CEO of EVVEMI a personalized, data-driven care management platform for beauty and wellness services. Prior to EVVEMI, Maria catalyzed several award-winning high-growth ventures in healthcare, consumer products and technology --including companies acquired by Microsoft, Bosch and IMG. Maria previously focused on Strategy for Fortune 100 clients working for top tier consulting firms such as Deloitte and Accenture, and immersed herself in the “digital data revolution” as VP of Strategy and Corporate development for Monster Worldwide and ZoomInfo.
Maria believes Innovation is a mindset, as well as a skill set. She has worked with a multitude of individuals and companies with the intent of helping to inspire and motivate them to sustain, grow, and succeed. Maria has raised over $4B in seed, venture capital, Private Equity, IPO and post IPO financings’ and achieved considerable returns for investors. In addition to Maria’s career success, she continues to provide her thought leadership as an advocate and mentor for women and serves as a board member for Planned Parenthood and JaneDoe.
- Peter Ondruska - Head of Research at Lyft
At Lyft Level 5, Peter leads a research team working on self-driving cars. Previously, he co-founded and led Blue Vision Labs, which developed city-scale collaborative augmented reality and that was acquired by Lyft in 2018 to use its technology for self-driving. Peter has a PhD in Robotics from Oxford Robotics Institute and has dozens of publications in the field of machine learning, computer vision and robotics.
- Rana Gujral - CEO, Behavioral Signals
Rana Gujral is an entrepreneur, speaker, investor, and CEO at Behavioral Signals, an emotion AI and behavioral recognition software company. In 2014, Rana founded TiZE, a cloud software for specialty chemicals, and held the role of CEO until his exit when TiZE was acquired by Alchemy. He has been awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Month’ by CIO Magazine, the ‘US-China Pioneer’ Award by IEIE, and listed in "Top 10 Entrepreneurs to follow in 2017" by Huffington Post. Due to his notable thought-leadership in the voice-first community, spearheading digital transformation in the behavioral analysis space, he is recognized in Inc. Magazine as an “AI Entrepreneur to Watch”. His writing can be found in publications such as Inc., TechCrunch, and Forbes.
