Deep Learning @Whisper
by Nick Stucky-Mack

In this talk we will discuss how Whisper uses machine learning for natural language processing tasks. We will focus on how Whisper applies deep learning to moderate content created by its more than 20 million monthly active users. The talk will explore the problem of short text classification, and will cover Whisper's choices in machine learning models, software development, and hardware.

Speaker bio: Nick works on machine learning at Whisper. Nick conceived of, built, and currently develops and maintains the arbiter project for deep-learning-based content moderation at Whisper. Nick joined as Whisper's third data scientist. Before that, he earned a BA in Mathematics from Harvard, was a Blakemore Fellow at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and worked in adtech in Taipei.
