2023 ECMA Award Nominee Dee Hernandez is a Vocalist/Composer/Performer of Cuban Latin Jazz R&B Pop Fusion. The Cuban Canadian artist arrived in Canada June 2000 for her second tour with Los Primos Project touring Atlantic Canada’s Music Festivals, that same year Dee made Canada her home and moved to Toronto. There she worked as a singer with different bands such as Pedras Da Rue, singing fusion Bossa Novas and the James Bryan McCollum Jazz group from the Canadian pop duo Prozzäk. Dee has performed played in many festivals like Toronto Habor Front, Harvest, Halifax Jazz Fest and recorded two songs for a children’s album at the Canadian studio Metal Works with Fisher Price. While competing on the vocal show Canadian Idol, just falling short of the top ten, she was called “A World Class Jazz Singer” by Sass Jordan. That same year, Dee recorded her first album, co-writing with members of Canadian Pop/Rock band The Moffatt Brothers in Nashville.
Her latest releases have received attention from several radio stations such as CBC, nationwide radio play for her single " Breath" and nominated for R&B / Soul Recording for the Year with her single " Remember those days." Dee on the cover of Atlantic Canada's sensational Edit Magazine, interviewed by comedian James Mullinger, was referred as “The Voice of Cuban Canadian Jazz.”
