- Board Members of the Disabled Veterans’ Life Memorial Foundation, the organization that’s been instrumental to bringing AVDLM to life.
The dedication ceremony for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial will be held on October 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial site, 150 Washington Ave., SW (Washington Ave. & Second St. SW). Check in and registration opens at 8:30 a.m., the Dedication Ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. and will conclude at 1:00 p.m. and gates are open until 3:00 p.m. There is no on-site parking. For your comfort, restroom facilities will be available on-site. Complimentary water bottles and granola bars will be available. Due to Secret Service requirements, each attendee MUST have a unique name and duplicate entries of names for guests will not be approved. Each registrant Name and Address must match the individual’s Government-issued Photo ID.
Day of Event Instructions
Ceremony Entry: Your paper ticket OR your credential and lanyard and a photo ID are required to enter the venue.
Security: Your ticket is complimentary, is not for sale, and is non-transferable. All attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No large bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids, or signs will be allowed in the venue. Small cameras are permitted.
Memorial site: 150 Washington Avenue S.W., Washington, D.C. (Washington Ave and 2nd Street S.W.)
After registering online, tickets will be emailed. Please print the ticket(s) and bring with you to the Dedication Ceremony. All guests must have a government issued photo ID.
Check in and registration opens at 8:30 a.m., all guests should be seated by 10:30 a.m., the Dedication Ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. and will conclude at 1:00 p.m. and gates are open until 3:00 p.m.
Due to Secret Service requirements, complete contact information is required for each registered guest and all personal belongings are subject to search.
This event is free and open to the public. There is no assigned general seating. A maximum of 4 guests can be registered at one time. NOTE: each registrant must have a unique name – multiple registrations in the same name will be cancelled. Registrations will be accepted until event capacity is reached. For the Dedication Ceremony on October 5th, continuous Shuttle Buses depart the Renaissance Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Shuttle Buses return to the Renaissance between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
You don’t need to be a guest at the Renaissance to ride the Shuttle Buses, however, please be advised that shuttles have limited accessibility capacity per vehicle.
It may be advisable to consider alternative transportation options such as a taxi or car service.
