Event description

Description

Explore the classics through a modern lens as we deconstruct Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks in an interactive S.T.E.A.M. presentation unlike any other.

On Thursday, January 31, Upward Hartford will host Dance of da Vinci: The Notebooks and S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), a presentation led by choreographer Sonia Plumb, Artistic Director of Sonia Plumb Dance and Trinity College Professor Sean Cocco.

Plumb and Cocco will share their exploration of Leonardo’s notebooks and relevance to present-day humanity. A panel discussion will follow with experts in math, science and the visual arts. Panelists include Rachel McAnallen (mathematician), Amy Lamenzo (visual artist) and Caitlin Kenealy (biology teacher). Panelists will ask questions and share their thoughts about how Leonardo’s inquiries continue to spark curiosity in the 21st century, advance knowledge, and how each segment of S.T.E.A.M. builds upon the other.

The discussion will be moderated by Chion Wolf of WNPR (Connecticut Public Radio), a vocal champion for the arts and sciences in Hartford.

The event will be recorded and edited by Burning Sun Films to create two ten-minute videos that will accompany the Dance of da Vinci 2.0 tour. The Dance of da Vinci 2.0 will premiere September 2019.

Early Bird tickets have been extended at $10 through January 19, and will be sold online thereafter at $15 and at the door for $20.
