Description

SOLO EXHIBITION AND SILENT AUCTION: DECOMPARTMENTALISM is a two-night event that will take place at Stephansplatz, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The event will kick off with the opening speech and hors-d'oeuvres. The event will be open for public view for two days, September 30 - October 1, 2017. The admission to the exhibition and silent auction is free. Please, RSVP here.

We hope to attract a large crowd to competitively bid on—and ultimately purchase—artworks through a silent auction. Forty percent of the sale price will go toward local refugee organization in Vienna and sixty percent will go to the artist. The bidding price of the artworks will be indicated with special tags. In this fundraising exhibition, all winning bidders will take their purchased artwork off the wall.

Briefly about Art:
Theodor Adorno once famously wrote in his critiques, "all art is an uncommitted crime," meaning that every artwork is created to challenge the status quo by its very nature.

Same is true about AI YUSUP and her works, whose art is known to be political. Using her art to address oppression and marginalization of people of color, immigrants, women, and LGBTQ in the United States, AI YUSUP challenges sociopolitical issues, hierarchies and traditional expectations imposed upon vulnerable by those in power through "Decompartmentalism".
