Event description

Description

Join us in welcoming author Edgar Villanueva, a nationally-recognized expert on social justice philanthropy and author of Decolonizing Wealth.

A member of Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, Edgar currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Native Americans in Philanthropy and is a Board Member of the Andrus Family Fund, a national foundation that works to improve outcomes for vulnerable youth.

In his book, Edgar uses his own experiences as a grantmaker and philanthropy professional—as well as field research and dozens of funder interviews—to reveal the racial and colonialist dynamics that plague institutions like banks, investment funds, and aid organizations (including foundations).

If you would like to purchase a book in advance, all proceeds from book sales will benefit Native youth programs through Native Americans in Philanthropy GenIndigenous Fund at The Minneapolis Foundation.

Books can be purchased online at http://www.decolonizingwealth.com/ or directly at local books stores including Birch Bark Books.

The award-winning Sioux Chef will be serving Native American appetizers and refreshments.

Please RSVP by May 20th.

Seating is limited.
