Decoding Craftsmanship II Seminar

Situated on the edge of Europe we can sometimes feel a little removed from the Design Communities of London, Milan and New York. This seminar in partnership with Joseph Walsh Studios provides the opportunity to engage in peer conversation and creative stimulation with some of Europe's much-admired, designers, makers and creators.

The Speakers

Humberto Campana Artist / Designer

Brothers Humberto & Fernando of Estudio Campana became famous for their furniture design and the creation of intriguing objects such as the Vermelha and Favela chairs. Their work incorporates the idea of transformation, reinvention and the integration of craftsmanship in mass production.

John Makepeace Designer / Educator

Furniture designer maker and educator, John Makepeace was a leading exponent of the British Crafts Revival and founder of Parnham Trust.

Hanns Günther Schnell Architect

Hanns Günther Schnell has an internationally renowned architectural practice and is Assistant Professor at the University of Stuttgart.

Gareth Neal Maker designer

Gareth Neal is at the forefront of British furniture design creating work that has been internationally acquired, exhibited and celebrated

Chris Lefteri Material Scientist/ Educator / Writer

Chris Lefteri is widely recognised as one of the leading experts working in the field of materials & design.

Joe Hogan Basket maker

Internationally renowned basket maker whose work has evolved from traditional forms into crafted sculptural objects.

Jorg Berchtold Architect and founder of Berchtold Projekte

Jorg Berchtold has collaborated with Joseph Walsh Studio since 2006. He is a member of the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Wuerttemberg Germany and the Deutscher Werkbund.

O'Donnell + Tuomey Architects

In partnership for more than thirty years, Sheila O'Donnell and John Tuomey have built up an impressive portfolio of architectural and urban designs both in Ireland and abroad.

Deirdre McQuillan Moderator
