The film is also the story of Mary-Claire King(Helen Hunt), the geneticist whose discovery of the BRCA1 gene and its link to breast cancer foreverchanged the understanding of human disease. Hers is considered one of the most important scientific discoveries of the 20th century.
There will be a post-film Q&A with director, Steven Bernstein and Annie Parker, hosted by Jack Garner.
VIP Admission: includes wine and hors d’oeuvres reception beginning at 5:30, a reserved seat in the VIP section of the theatre and a photo with Steve and Annie.
Gilda’s Club Rochester, an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, is a non-profit organization that provides emotional and social support to women, men, children and teens living with cancer and their families and friends. GCR offers wellness and networking groups, lectures, workshops and social events in a non-residential, homelike setting. All programs and events are free and there is no membership fee. GCR is funded through the generosity of private individuals, corporations, foundations, grants and special events.
