Event description

Description

This is an open workshop. Anyone can attend and pay whatever they like. We suggest $15-$25 to pay for space rental and to compensate the instructor]

Come play with us to enhance your theatrical clown technique, cultivate a ensemble-oriented awareness, and deepen your sense of pleasure in performing for an audience.

The clown is the inner-most self, the truthful identity we humans are conditioned to suppress and hide. Theatrical clown technique deepens the connectivity of any performer to their audience. You learn how to accept the audience inward, rather than projecting your presence outward.

Clowns see the world through the eyes of a curious newborn, with wonder and marvel; clowns live in the realm of "Yes, I can!" and endless possibilities. The humor of the clown arises from the tragedy of the human condition. Authenticity eclipses any calculated effort to be funny.

In this supportive group environment, reconnect with your inner child and rediscover the art of play. No "clown" experience necessary; we don't work in red nose. An open mind and open heart are requisite.
