DECEMBER 2017 TECH SOCIAL - DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE & ENVIRONMENT
Please join us for a Tech social on Friday, December 8th at 6:30 pm in the Piedmont Middle School Multipurpose Room. Brett Snyder of cheng+snyder will share his diverse design work which lies at the intersection of architecture and media. He will also be leading a fun scavenger hunt that helps students open their eyes and see their environment in a new way -- through the lens of design.
SPEAKER BIO
Brett Snyder, AIA is a principal of Cheng+Snyder an experimental architecture studio based in Oakland, California and an Associate Professor of Design at the University of California, Davis. Snyder’s current work is focused on ways that participatory design can enhance our relationship to the environment. Recent projects include Smart Sidewalks, a winning entry to the NYC Reinvent Payphones competition, Museum of the Phantom City an architectural iPhone app to view visionary but un-built architecture, and #OurChangingClimate an initiative to enhance local dialogues around climate change,
PREPARING YOURSELF
Are you an aspiring architect? Have you built a cool structure out of sticks, paper, cardboard, wood, LEGO or even Minecraft? If so, please bring it and share your story! Of course, there will be social time with your tech friends, a pizza dinner, milk, and cookies for only $5! As usual, bring whatever else you’d like to share!
