Thank you for being a part of DECC as we continue to work to bring educational equity for all DC students. As we come to the close of 2016, we have so much to celebrate. Together, we have set priorities that continue to bring more people together to advocate for children. Acting on these priorities, we engaged candidates, informed voters, and developed relationships with new members of the DC Council and State Board of Education. We have a seat at the table!
As we look towards 2017, we will celebrate these victories and prepare to continue our momentum. DECC is gearing up to ensure that our issue areas--dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline, increasing teacher voice/improving school leadership, and expanding community schools/youth services funding--are a top priority in DC's budget.
At this month's meeting, we will have time to celebrate, and also hear from Ed Lazere, the Executive Director of DC Fiscal Policy Institute and a leading expert on our local budget, and issues related to education and poverty.
We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday December 7th at 6:30pm. Please register and find more details online.
