On behalf of the Decade of Biosecurity Project Steering Group, we invite you to attend the Decade of Biosecurity – Implementation Plan Workshop at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart, Tasmania on Thursday 13 October 2022.

The Decade of Biosecurity is a partnership between industry, business, community and government to elevate the importance of biosecurity and improve the biosecurity system’s effectiveness during the 2020s. The partnership seeks to engage all Australians with building a stronger biosecurity system and connect leaders and influencers across sectors to share and leverage their learnings and approaches. The Decade of Biosecurity coordination is hosted by the Invasive Species Council on behalf of the Decade of Biosecurity partners: Invasive Species Council, Animal Health Australia, Centre for Invasives Species Solutions, Plant Health Australia, National Farmers’ Federation, National Landcare Network, Landcare Australia, NRM Regions Australia, federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and all state and territory biosecurity agencies.

To ensure the Decade of Biosecurity can achieve its objectives, Three60 Consulting has been commissioned to develop a three-year Implementation Plan for the initiative, which will be publicly launched in early 2023. As part of its development, we’ll be consulting broadly with key stakeholders across several biosecurity sectors - agriculture (animals and plants), pest animals, weeds, wildlife, aquatics, human amenity and the environment – via state-based workshops. The purpose of these workshops is to allow key biosecurity players from each state to contribute their ideas on how the Decade of Biosecurity can be operationalised to ensure it supports your work, addresses key priorities and represents all Australians, all industries and all environments.

This is the Decade of Biosecurity! We have Costa Georgiadis on board as our first Ambassador – we hope you’ll be a part of this exciting initiative too.
