At this Special VMHC Coalition Meeting you will hear first-hand from Commissioner Sutton and her team at the NYC Department of Veterans' Services (DVS) about the planned launch of VetsThriveNYC.
DVS is preparing to launch its VetsThriveNYC integrative health and community resilience program, comprised of a City-wide consortium whose members will participate in implementing the CoreFour integrative health model, which incorporates clinical treatment, community holistic services, peer intervention/social support, and education/ engagement through cultural initiatives, education and the arts. The vision for this model is to develop an evidence-based sustainable prototype, implemented in NYC during 2017, which will be shared with other communities for accelerated replication.
The purpose of this meeting is to achieve the following objectives:
Introduce DVS team members, including Darlene Brown-Williams, PhD Assistant Commissioner for Integrative Health & Community Resilience
Provide overview of ThriveNYC plan, which features 54 initiatives to make sure that New Yorkers, including veterans and their families, can get the mental health resource that they need - and describe how VetsThriveNYC is supported by this pioneering initiative
Update VMHC community on the CoreFour integrative health model and engage members to provide feedback and participation
