Event description

Description

Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (ACBHCS) is pleased to invite you to the Tobacco Learning Symposium for all BHCS agencies and contractors on January 24th, 2019. This Learning Symposium is a great opportunity for managers, directors and direct service providers. We will be exploring how individuals and agencies can further address tobacco dependence and treatment. ACBHCS is committed to addressing and treating Tobacco Use Disorder in all of our programs.

Our presentation and panel discussion will shed light on some of the unique challenges we face in addressing tobacco dependence and treatment for individuals with mental health illness and substance use disorders. This dialogue is important given this vulnerable population smokes at a higher rate, has higher morbidity and mortality rates and is severely challenged with obtaining and maintaining effective treatment. Through the use of a guided lecture, story sharing, and a creative process that invites audience participation, symposium attendees will come away with some shared working solutions on how they can address tobacco treatment on an individual and organizational level. Attendees will also gain access to networks, resources, and future trainings that can help them on their journey.
